What is cold laser therapy?
"Cold" refers to the fact that these devices don't produce heat at levels that damage tissue β unlike surgical lasers, which cut and cauterise. Cold lasers deliver light energy at low power into tissue without raising temperature meaningfully.
The light is absorbed by the mitochondria in your cells, which respond by producing more energy. That increased cellular activity is what supports the body's own repair processes and eases discomfort in the treated area.
It's a supportive technology rather than a corrective one. It works with the body's existing processes rather than forcing a change.
What do the different wavelengths do?
Most quality devices use two wavelengths together, because they reach different depths.

How do I use a cold laser device?
- Clean, bare skin. Light doesn't pass through clothing usefully. Remove creams and lotions first.

Is it the same as red light therapy?
Related but not identical. Both use light in similar wavelength ranges, and both work through the same cellular mechanism.
The difference is delivery. Cold laser uses coherent, focused laser light that concentrates energy into a small area and penetrates deeper. Red light panels use LEDs β non-coherent light spread over a wide area, better for broad coverage but shallower.
