How to Build a Skincare Routine Around Your Device

Most people treat a device as a separate event β€” something bolted onto a routine rather than built into one. That's why results underwhelm. A device used in the right sequence, with the right products around it, outperforms the same device used at random by a wide margin.

This is the practical version: what goes where, in what order, how often.

Where does a device fit in a skincare routine?

Devices sit in the middle β€” after cleansing, before your treatment products. Three reasons that order matters:

  • Clean skin conducts properly. Makeup, SPF and oil block energy transfer and interfere with contact sensors.
  • Product absorption improves after treatment, not before. Skin that's just been treated takes up actives considerably better.
  • Serums applied first get in the way. Most interfere with conductive gel and never absorb properly anyway.

The sequence: cleanse β†’ device β†’ serum β†’ moisturiser β†’ SPF in the morning.

What does a full weekly routine look like?

Frequency What Why
Daily Cleanse, serum, moisturiser, SPF The foundation. Devices amplify a good routine; they don't replace one.
2–3x weekly Your primary energy device β€” HIFU/RF or microcurrent Cumulative firming and contouring
2–3x weekly LED, on non-device days or after Passive, pairs with anything
1x weekly Hydrodermabrasion or pore vacuum Deep cleansing and extraction
2–3x weekly Exfoliating acids β€” on non-device days Never the same day as an energy device

A workable week: device Monday, LED Tuesday, acids Wednesday, device Thursday, LED Friday, hydrodermabrasion Saturday, rest Sunday.

Which products should I use with a device?

During the session β€” conductive gel, not moisturiser or oil. Creams don't conduct and oil interferes with contact sensors.

Immediately after β€” this is the highest-absorption window, so use your most active serum here. The Exosome Anti-Wrinkle Facial Serum ($19.87) is formulated for this step. For firmness, a peptide or PDRN serum works well.

To finish β€” a barrier-supportive moisturiser. Skin that's just been treated benefits from ceramides and hydration rather than more actives.

The next morning β€” SPF, without exception. Non-negotiable after any energy treatment.

What should I not do on device days?

  • Strong exfoliating acids β€” alternate onto other days rather than stacking
  • Retinoids β€” leave at least 24 hours either side if your skin is at all reactive
  • Physical scrubs β€” unnecessary and irritating alongside device use
  • A second energy device β€” one per session is enough; more isn't faster

If your skin already feels tight, stinging or flaky, pause devices for a week and rebuild the barrier first. Treating compromised skin sets you backwards.

How do I combine more than one device?

Most people end up with two or three. The rule is to separate by function, not to stack by session.

  • Mechanical first, energy later. If you're doing both in a week, extraction early, energy treatments after β€” never in the same session.
  • LED is the exception. It's passive enough to follow an energy device in the same sitting, and often improves the result.
  • Eye devices are independent. A dedicated eye device can run on any schedule β€” the skin there is treated separately anyway.

If you'd rather buy a routine already matched, our bundles pair devices with the serums intended to work alongside them.

How long until a routine like this shows results?

Texture and glow improve within the first week or two. Firmness takes 8–12 weeks. That gap is where most people quit.

The single strongest predictor of results isn't which device you own β€” it's whether you're still using it in week ten. Build a schedule you'll actually keep rather than an ambitious one you'll abandon.
